Functional renormalization group and 2PI effective action formalism

چکیده
We combine two non-perturbative approaches, one based on the two-particle-irreducible (2PI) action, other functional renormalization group (fRG), in an effort to develop new approximations for field theoretical description of strongly coupled systems. In particular, we exploit exact 2PI relations between two-point and four-point functions order truncate infinite hierarchy equations group. The truncation is "exact" ways. First, solution resulting flow equation independent choice regulator. Second, this coincides with that functions, any selection two-skeleton diagrams characterizing a so-called $\Phi$-derivable approximation. transformation formalism into offers ways solve these practice, provides insight certain aspects their renormalization. It also opens possibility approximation schemes going beyond strict ones, as well fRG hierarchy.

Renormalized thermodynamics from the 2PI effective action
We calculate the pressure as well as other thermodynamic quantities for a scalar one-component field theory from a three-loop 2PI effective action numerically without further approximations. We present a detailed comparison with the two-loop approximation. One observes a strongly improved convergence behavior as compared to perturbative approaches. The renormalization employed in this work exte...
متن کاملEffective Action and Renormalization Group Flow of Anisotropic Superconductors
We calculate the effective action of a superconductor, without assuming that either the electron-electron potential or the Fermi surface obey rotational invariance. This approach leads to the same gap equation and equilibrium free energy as more conventional methods. The results are used to obtain the Gell-Mann Low renormalization group equations for the electron-electron potential. Research su...

We reexamine the functional renormalization-group theory of wetting transitions. As a starting point of the analysis we apply an exact equation describing renormalization group flow of the generating functional for irreducible vertex functions. We show how the standard nonlinear renormalization group theory of wetting transitions can be recovered by a very simple truncation of the exact flow eq...
متن کاملCluster Functional Renormalization Group
Functional renormalization group (FRG) has become a diverse and powerful tool to derive effective low-energy scattering vertices of interacting many-body systems. Starting from a non-interacting expansion point of the action, the flow of the RG parameter Λ allows to trace the evolution of the effective one-particle and two-particle vertices towards low energies by taking into account the vertex...
متن کاملGauge Dependence of Effective Action and Renormalization Group Functions in Effective Gauge Theories
The Caswell-Wilczek analysis on the gauge dependence of the effective action and the renormalization group functions in Yang-Mills theories is generalized to generic, possibly power counting non renormalizable gauge theories. It is shown that the physical coupling constants of the classical theory can be redefined by gauge parameter dependent contributions of higher orders in “hbar” in such a w...
